EMMETT PARK, TAHMOOR

Public BBQ

Emmett Park presents itself as one of those unpretentious suburban parks that quietly gets on with the business of serving families without much fuss. The facilities are kept impressively clean, which speaks well of both the council maintenance and local respect for the space. There's a decent spread of exercise equipment scattered about, though serious fitness enthusiasts would be wise to supplement with their own gear. The barbecue facilities are serviceable enough, though one does wonder about the previous users' standards of hygiene - a quick inspection before firing up the hotplates wouldn't go amiss. The park's layout makes it particularly suitable for outdoor training sessions when weather permits, offering enough open space without feeling exposed. What strikes you most is the park's honest functionality. It's not trying to be anything grand, just a reliable spot where locals can gather for a weekend barbecue or let the children burn off energy. The sort of place that does exactly what it promises on the tin.
